Lawsuits Already Filed
Class action lawsuits have been filed against DraftKings and Fanduel. The lawsuit accuses the two companies of negligence, false advertising, and fraud.
The suits question the fairness of the daily fantasy games that each company runs. In the filings, the two powerhouses are misrepresenting their products as being a fair way to win contests. This is in light of the recent news that employees of the two companies were entering in contests on the other’s site, and winning cash prizes.
The employee that created the stir was employed by DraftKings, and subsequently won a contest on FanDuel that earned him $350,000. Employees are believed to have insider information on players and rosters, giving them an unfair advantage over the general public.
The Hannon Law Firm also believes that daily fantasy sports companies are engaged in illegal gambling under Colorado law, causing the same kind of social and economic harms as other forms of gambling.
